If you know me, you know I've been obsessed with monsters for as long as I can remember. Some of my fondest memories from childhood involve Saturday nights on the couch watching "Creature Feature" or "Chiller Theater" with my parents, who indulged my obsession every other day of the week with a steady supply of monster magazines, model kits, toys, posters, records, novelties and whatever else marketers could come up with to cash-in on the monster boom of the 1960s and '70s. In an essay published on-line several years ago, USA Today editor David Colton waxed nostalgic about his own experiences during those days and dubbed our generation the Monster Kids. No one ever said it better. We were the Monster Kids. As you can tell from this blog entry, some of us still carry the scars. This video is just a taste of what it was like during those wonderfully imaginative days. I dedicate it with love and gratitude to Mom and Dad. Obviously, it's impossible to capture the magic of an era in one clip. And so, coming soon...it's Bride of Monster-Kid MASHUP! NOTE: You'll want to turn-off the jukebox at the bottom of the page before watching.
